I kept waking up last night with my stomach killing me, sometimes a little clamy and sweaty. and around about 4am I woke up from a nightmare and was completely paralyzed, couldn't move or speak for a few seconds. I usually get this when I go to sleep on a full stomach or had a lot of stress pushing me down.

if you dunno what sleep paralysis is.. it's where you wake up from a dream, usually a nightmare and you feel paralyzed, you can only breathe and move your eyes. you can't speak or anything, like if you scream, only you can hear it. it last about 30 seconds to 3 minutes. sometimes you can see a "creature" made up from your mind pushing down on your chest or trying to strangle you. I've only experienced that once or twice recently. but I've been getting sleep paralysis since I was a kid. usually people who are sleep deprived or overcome with stress experience this.

it's weird as fuck and can scare the shit out of you.

fuck!! I didnt know there was a name for this! I keep telling my family this is happening and they think im mad, I seriously get it loads and it scares the fuck out of me. I wake up and I cant move or anything, I cant even talk or move my head, I just lay there panicking till eventually it stops and I can move and usually where im pushing to try and move, the second it stops my arms fling up in the air coz I was pushing so hard to move them.

Ill have to research more into this, because it really frightens me.

yeah man, it's a night terror, very common too. it's not harmful at all, so don't worry about whether it's bad or not.

a lot of the times, I rise up out of bed so fast from it that it makes me extremely dizzy and I lose my breath.

Ah right okay. Thinking about it there is a good reason why I get it, as you said it happens when you are sleep deprived... well I've actually got a condition that makes you tired alot and needing sleep (no im not just lazy haha) but I also have trouble getting to sleep, so this would make sense.

I dunno bout any of this creature seeing or anything, but yeah I hate when I wake up before my body does, and I can't move for a few seconds.

I feel like the "old lady" on the madtv skit that is always recovering from strokes... ANNNNNAAHHHHH!!

nope, I looked, unless he was explaining it, but didn't know what it was called, or maybe it was lost during upgrades, either way this is the new one.

yes this has happened to me like once or twice, minus the creature thingy or whatever. I saw a documentary on it also on TV one day...the shit is crazy when it happens.

Yes, it's frightening. Your brain paralyzes your body so that you don't act out your dreams, so to speak. Waking up before this has passed is so scary. Luckily it happens rarely.

I've waken up in that state before and when my eyes opened, the dream was still in my vision and it faded away, it was like brain lag or something, heh.

It used to happen to me a lot when I was very young.

That's just blood moving around your body as you get up.

I used to get sleep paralysis all the time when I was younger. There was always a nightmare that would happen before it where a ghost would grab me and put its hand over my mouth and my family would be infront of me and I wouldn't be able to shout to them cause nothing was coming out.

yeah, a head rush, I was just explaining it that way because belly was talking about flailing his arms from trying to move, and mines from me trying to get up so bad that once it gives in I come rising up so fast I don't know what's going on.

and yeah, mine has always been a bird like figure holding me down, and one time it was like a young kid just laughing, you can only see the outline like it's a ghost.

It blows having this shit, whats even worse is it dosn't wear off for me, I have to force myself to go back to bed or eventually just fall asleep on my own. The worst one I had lasted for like 30 minuets and it was in school.

Ok this has happend to me loads and it as scary as fuck, and the first time it happend to me was the same day I tried playing with a oija board and I was scared as hell.

You can induce it by laying completely still before you go to bed, I mean don't move at all, try not to fall asleep and after about an hour your whole body will be numb and then try moving but not to hard, you will feel a floating feeling at first and then you will be stuck there. It's pretty cool actually and sometimes you can actually induce an out of body experince type thing, anyways I gotta go now but I'll give you guys some more info on it tomorrow.

I've experienced something similar....I fell asleep on both arms and when I woke up I couldnt get up because they were both numb so it felt like someone had me pinned down...it was pretty weird
