At the moment this competition is being run on disturbed films-

QUOTE
Think you can get alot of hits? Heres your chance to win a prizes. If someone can submit a video during the month of January and have reach 20,000 by Febrary 5th 2005 they will win six months of free web hosting, after which if they continue their account will get 50% off the normal price. If any fraud is involved, trust me, we can tell, the video under question will be reset to zero hits and will be disqualified from any chance to win.

Anyhow, buckwild has sent out a bulletin through myspace to try and get people to watch his videos so he can win. As we have fairly tight connections with disturbed films through here, I don't know about anyone else, but I think its a scandal. He draws people to look at the inital bulletin, then directs them to the video on disturbed films to bump up the count on his video. I call cheat, or at least a poor and desperate attempt for buck to win who obviously doesn't have enough confidence in his videos or group.

Haha, maybe so, but that Russian team on Dfilms who are currently in top place dont deserve it, they cheated. Wipe the Russians out first!

Why does he want to win so bad? The prize isnt that great. I guess he really wants to be "the best"...

It is unfair if he won it though.
Then again he's not like refreshing it every 2seconds, he's doing it the right way, just realised. I hope he beats the russian.

If you have your video auto-playing on your myspace profile, you get mad hits to it. I remember word had like 2500 on the old dfilms from doing that.

No rules against this, as long as the video isn't hyperlinked to an embedded player.

Naughty boy.

Ah well, we'll be enabling hotlink protection soon with rewrite rules.

So gaz if I had a video to that page on my myspace would that be "hyperlinked to an embedded player."?

Yes indeed. I could ban myspace as an inbound refferer and probably would. I'm waiting for the new version of dfilms to discuss it though.

Once again, try avoid directly hot linking as it costs dfilms bandwidth and lost ad revenue from a bad CTR rate for advertisers. Until now it's been an honor system, but people don't ever comply.

I know that some sites manage to change the filenames of certain files over certain periods of time so hot linking doesn't work. Does dfilms do this too?
