If I was running one of those sites, I would do the same, you don't want people knowing where your getting your links from.

Yeah same here really, but he crossed the line when he put a code on ebaumsworld, linking to somethingawful.com, wasting bandwidth, which was just an attack. Or something like that, thats why people hate him now, it says so here, at the end:
