cool, well if the response is good, and we figure out how to use ffmpeg to convert on the fly then we may do it
lol, it would probably take a week to encode all 23 gb of videos currently on the site

Should be a script which allows encoding server-side? Sounds like a good idea though mang .

I was kinda drunk when I was trying to do it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the configure script which was really annoying, so either I may have to recompile PHP with ffmpeg support, which takes an assload of time. Or cPanels limited it from it's own internal interface.
Either way, I'll start on it in a bit. I'm pretty sure it's zend optimiser causing the problems.

I have downloaded like couple stupid clips of happy slapping but the quality is soo slow and shit, even if its uploaded from a pc

Certainly did, that was in Florida though. I can imagine the Floridian lifeguards are a whole load less gay than the Australians Image file not present in the recovered backup
