Why Didn't Elliot Sue the News Reporters

I was watching the news report done on PE and was thinking why didn't Elliot sue them for using there dvd footage on there news program.

They got clips straight from the dvd and stuck them in there program, isn't that illegal because Elliot was trying to charge people to pay for the dvd when the news was giving it away.

aint news papers/reporters and shit got some kinda right to use it or something?

Pretty much free advertising... I'd be more then happy if my group was on the news.

They do have freedom of press, but I don't know about Austrailia.

I think you'd have to contact the company who distributes it and ask for permission, and have to pay royalties. I don't really know all the rules though.

I remember WEAK talking about rights to footage and shit, and I think I remember him saying something about newsworthy something something.


He filmed the aftermath of a car wreck where someone died, and said he could use it without contacting people or anything because it was newsworthy.

Yeah, media outlets have the right to use something if its already in the public domain.

They dont need release forms or licenses.
