usb quality

I know that firewire has better quality then usb, but is there like a huge difference or just some?...

im asking this because the other day I bought a sony camera and come to find out, it doesnt have a firewire or usb port, but it does have the a/v output with cords, so ive been looking around and ive found an a/v to usb converter but no a/v to firewire....so yeah

Is there a difference? I thought it was just speed... maybe I am wrong though. also I think SONY have tehre own name for firewire from what I remember.... and I think you can control the cam though the firewire also. unlike the USA.

For online clips, it really doesn't make that much difference really. But if you plan on making a dvd or move ir w/e, then yes it's a big difference in quality.

yeah I have firewire on my computer, just not on the camera...




...so like clips I want online I can just use usb, and then if I ever do make a dvd, I can use firewire in the future and edit them again from the tapes....right?

I guess, but I think Firewire would be better for online clips anyway.
I mean say its a long skit or something and you render a 800kb/s WMV with USB Quality, it will be pretty shity quality, but if you did it with firewire you'll have better quality. And the quality isnt so good at 800Kbs in WMV, so you'll need a higher quality; which means a bigger file. Well thats my opinion.


If your going to be using a firewire at some point, you might aswell use it for your online clips. Makes sense and you wont need to re-capture when your editing a DVD.

Only downside of firewire is the huge file sizes, its like 100mb or more for a 1minute clip in AVI. Well on mine it is.

yeah, I guess your right.....its just hard finding somthing that I can plug a/v jacks into and get in onto my computer....

its called a tv tuner, or you can get a converter box

well I found a few that are the same as that for like $50, but they still have 3 days left to bid, so I don't know if the price will go up...

I found a usb one at radioshack for like $70 that I could buy, but I dont want total shit videos...

I guess if worse comes down to worse I can always buy another camera with my next check =/

As if it was less than a week ago you should be able to take it back and get a full refund, if you bought it from a shop.

If you can, do that. Then look for a decent cam.

Just blag them. If you do it for long they always give in. And places like wall-mart always will.

I cant take it back till tommarow cause there closed for new years, but yeah, they should take it back, I put it back in all the oringinal casinng and stuff...so yeah...
