If I have two cameras with me when filming, I always like to set one up so it captures everything, like on a tripod or a wall or something, so that at least if I fuck the footage up with the cam in my hand, I still get it all on the posistioned camera.

Just make sure you set the posistioned camera somewhere good, and test the shot first.

- Use a tripod.

- If you film jumps, make sure you get the whole shot of the jump with at least one of your cams, gives an idea of height.

- Keep a steady hand.

- Don't care that people are probably staring at you when you're filming, stay focused on the shot.

Meh, I dunno. Just stuff I figured from experience.

Hey and welcome to the forums

1) Never film into the sun, always have your back to the sun and film the opposite way.

2) Say it with me.... "tripod" if your in doors and your filming is wank, then mr tripod is your best frtiend

3) I dont know what your filming on, but its its no mini dv then save up and get a mini dv cam, and editing willl be 10 times easier when you have a firewire cable

4) Dont do bush jumps

5) Try not to have one any "cky" merch when doing skits

6) Have fun with it...

low angles make the subject look bigger than usual, this is good for jumps n stuff

here's my hints:

- when filming a jump, use one cam with a fisheye from below/side to get the skinoff effect.
- use a cam on a tripod without fish eye from a distance to get a cool still shot of the jump.. if the hangtime is long clips like this will look "fake" which is awesome. And it's great for After Effects editing.

- I dunno why.. and I dunno if it's a tip but I always get annoyed by CKY, HIM, gay-ass-hardrock-emo-bands shirts merch and whatever in clips. Yeah it's your life but I hate those people.
- suck my cock.

If your filming make sure you concentrate on looking through the camera. I was always watch the stubnt with my own eyes and the cam drifts away.

Sounds like an obvious one but I do it all the fucking time.

Many good tips here allready! The most important ones:

1. Keep the camera steady(tripod or steady hand)
2. Use one camera to capture the whole scene
3. Film close with the fisheye(+what kuffi said about filming a jump)

4. When you are behind the camera SHUT THE FUCK UP! alteast during the action.
5. Remember to say "Rip/Off rules" or "This is dedicated to Rip/Off" before/after you do a stunt!

The only useful tip I can give you via the internet is to practice dude. Just go out and film and use common sense. After filming and editing weekly for about 2 years you should develop a certain skill and style.

Make sure when doing a stunt theres only the guy whos doing hte stunt in shot, I hate seeing loads of people around somene when there doing a jump or soemthing.

Make sure everyone shuts up.

Use tripod if possible.

And likem ost people have said get 1 angle covering the whole area so atleast u will capture the stunt form a distance.

1) Never film into the sun, always have your back to the sun and film the opposite way.

Why is that?
I used to film the sun ages ago, until I read "do not aim the viewfinder directly at the sun" I mean I guess I can see why, but why exactly? What does it do to the cam or lens or whatever?

It depends, if you do it well you can get some cool effects, but most of the time if done with out planing it, it will look like shit and like Marc said darken everything and get lens flair..

Experement around with angles... dont even have to actually record somethin to do this.. just look at different angles and see what you like...it may look like your a retard when your filming it but when your done it usually looks cool
