Ok, so homegrown should have it's own company, like Homegrown Productions. The person on here most dedicated and well known to the homegrown business should own it. Obviously, they would have to have a great knowledge in the whole 'selling' thing. Basically all groups who release a dvd could release it with the company. It could have a website where it shows all info or whatever. It could be the most extreme underground film company. Say, in 5 years time, the good hg films of today could come under the 'Homegrown Classics' category or whatever. Hard to explain my idea but I hope you like it.

Makes sense, but the point of a production company is to fund your shit, not to just be a name.

Production companies also cost an assload to make, a real one that is.

It's a good idea and if someone became phat paid from the hg scene one day it would be cool to see them do that.

But at this point in time it isn't really a possibilitie.

But the site could have a store section added for groups willing to put a homegrown forums on the back of there dvd.

Just an idea.

Even though WKH already said he was doing something like this, I think WEAK would be a good candidate to lead such a production company, as he seems to be really dedicated to the Homegrown Scene, and he already knows a lot about the legalities of filming and production.

Ah, ok. I was just making a suggestion, I didn't mean to piss you off or anything. I know you've done a lot for the whole homegrown scene, and I wasn't trying to belittle everything you've done, I just think think that WEAK would make a good addition to a homegrown production company if one were made. BTW, when is the WKH DVD coming out, wasn't it supposed to be out right after the first hunt?

Nah, I have no interest in doing something like that. There is like only 2 groups here who are capable of making a DVD that would actually sell...and like Duran said...thats IF they ever get around to making one. Thanks for the nomination, but this one is all Tom's.

I actually beg to differ, there are many more than 2 that are capable of making a DVD that'd sell well. But, I don't think this idea would work, good idea but wouldn't work.

Absolutely nothing, but I do recognise potential in several homegrown groups. Just because they arn't generalised as "commercially viable" doesn't mean they don't have raw talent, which can always be exploited.

Right?

this is just the dawn, there are to many nay sayers on here, I mean if someone would of told ice cube or dr dre "listen guys there are already a ton of other rap groups making money, you don't have a chance" than where would they be today.......probably broke, entertainment is huge in america. There must be thousands of groups making a very profitable living off of their albums and at one point they all knew that they had heavy ass competition. People will be buying dvd's and cd's in america as long as there is an america. We spend billions on entertainment every year and will continue to do so, it's just a matter of marketing more than anything else, a shitty as G UNIT group can make a billion dollars off of one album and they fucking suck, why?? because of dr dre and his marketing skills and influencable little bastards who will buy what the television tells them to buy! There's so much room for groups in homegrown at the top but if a majority of you listen to the nay saying it's gonna get you down and your not gonna even have a chance!

There should just be a best of HG DVD, like an annual thing. Kinda like the HG Collection.

A few different ideas:

Basically I think people should just be able to send footage to someone each year, their best stuff, either their DVDs or just footage which they have filmed. Then someone who can be trusted to edit and gather all the footage make a "Best of HG 2006" or whatever, someone who can land maybe some good advertising for it, get it professionally made. I mean if they can get a few 100 of people to buy it, then that should cover it.

Maybe someone who people can send there footage to, someone who can edit their DVD and produce it properly for them. Although if they edited it for them, it kinda takes away one of the main points of HG in a way.

It just needs to be....maybe like when people have edited there DVD, they can send it to them, to get it done properly, graphics, etc etc, for a price.
kinda like a small company, HG Productions. Someone who can "spice" your DVDs if you know what I mean.

But I guess im dreaming I cant imagine anyone here willing to do that, nor can anyone offer anything like that really. Hopefully you get what I mean thought. Would be cool something like that.

just so everyone knows my last statement had little to do with a production company cause I highly doubt that anyone will pull it off if they do that would rock but I seriously doubt it. But I do think there are more than 2 groups on here that have a chance at selling dvd's if they could come up with enough content

Raw talent? I dont even cosider myself to be talented. All I know is it would be misleading to say that groups here have a shot at achieving good profits and noriety. Only a select few groups here have a shot at even getting a real distribution deal. Im not nay-saying. Im being realisitic. People here do this shit for fun and Im here to support that and help where I can. People who are doing this with expectations of making $50,000 off their video need to think twice. 99% of people here dont even have the money to get their DVD professionally replicated, get over that obstacle and then we'll talk.

And Buck...nice analogy but you arent proving your point. You know how many musicians fail opposed to those who succeed? And even those who succeed dont always make enough to pay the bills.
