Sound not working...

Does anybody know what my problem is... yes I've checked that it's all plugged in correctly.. and I've even plugged in headphones to see if it was the speakers and it won't work. Also when I turn the speakers on full blast I hear a buzzing noise.. so I know it connected It just won't play sound or music.

It's also not on MUTE!

driver issue?

How can I fix a driver issue... also if it helps.. It seems that it stopped working after installed my webcam.

shorted out? check the wires for cuts and shaving of the rubber on the outside.

Nope that's not it cuz I tried several different headphones too.

mite sound stupid, but is the sound settings on mute, or the media player on mute?

EDIT: shit sorry, just read it's not on mute.

Try simple stuff first.

Go to start, all progs. Accessories, Entertainment then "Volume Control" make sure its not turned down, mine did that once.
Or it might be in your system tray.

START? *Right click on MY COMPUTER*> PROPERTIES>AUTO UPDATES *TAB*>Click the link "WINDOWS UPDATE WEB SITE"

Then if it is a driver probel it will find a driver and fit it. Make sure you restart if it does.

Go to device manager.

My computer > Right click > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device manager.

Check under "Sound video and game controllers", if any of them have a yellow circle around them with an exclamation mark in the middle, try hitting "roll back driver" and then "update driver", if your system can't find any drivers then open your computer case and look for a model, and a brand of motherboard, Search for the manufacterers website, then on the manufacterurs website search for your model of motherboard and navigate to the drivers section. If it isn't a software issue, I.E there is no yellow circle with an exclamation in it, check all connections, go to volume control and check nothing is muted and all system sound is turned up full. Finally, check your media players volume, most media players have aa volume button which you can drag to the right to raise the volume.

EDIT-- This must be seriously fucked... I followed everything you said Gman.. theres no yellow circles or anything.. I check the volume on everything.. media player.. limewire..sound control... its all on full.

Something to do with your speakers then. Check they are plugged in, and connectd right again.

Do you listen to them at high volume alot? cause you may have just blown them

Check your soundcard hasn't got knocked out, by pushing it towards the slot, if it's a PCI card. If that doesn't work, all I can think of is your sound chip has got damaged during a storm. You may wanna purchase a new PCI soundcard.

Wheres the soundcard at.. I thought it'd be something like that.

Well, apparently he's checked and it's not, I was pretty sure it was something to do with the volume, however I don't know how capable he is. Anyway, no harm in double checking eh.

yeah. thing is Windows sometimes only shows basic settings in Volume. So he might only see the first 2 settings....

Get a new soundcard then. If you can't see a PCI card inside your case, then you probably have an internal soundcard. Try restarting as a last resort.

get some new speekers. And make sure its plugged into the GREEN hole

Once again its not the speakers.. they're plugged into the greenhole and I tried Headphones too and they dont work.. so it must be the soundcard.
