Cutenews

Ok so I am trying to set up cute new and im having trouble doing it, I have asked a number of people on hgf. I have googled it asked people on msn etc but I cant find out what I am doing wrong

The only problem I can think of is this

I seem too have to directories called Cutenews but I don’t think that would be the problem.

Admin Edit: no forum links.

And they said to Change all the Chmod files to 777 but I have and it keeps changing itself back, I am so confused and when I try go to http://yoursite.com/cutenews/index.php like it said to (And yes I did change the you site.com bit) it doesn’t seem to do what the guy on that forum said it would

It's because you've placed your cutenews script inside the CGI-bin, the CGI Bin is designed to run CGI scripts not PHP scripts

Run it from the main directory and you'll be fine, CGI doesn't use CHmodding from web side.

The reason why its there is that I was having trouble putting the folder anywere else....It dident upload for some reason....


also how do I run it from the main directory?

yeah. GMAN knows all I dont see the point in Cutenews anymore. just go PHP all the way. get used to something like wordpress and you will have much more things and less buggy.

Yeah, totally agree with you there. No point in using a script like cutenews as wordpress is so damn fast, coded so much better and has RSS syndication and runs on CSS. Cutenews is really dated, and I don't like the way it uses a text database either, SQL is much more secure.

But for a quick deployment solution, cutenews works

whats the page I have to link the iframe to...because at the moment..its still google..wich I put to test the Iframe

Change the "iframe src="linkhurr" to whatever link cutenews gives you

let me know how you're getting along with it, I would've explained more last night...but I was way too drunk to type, let alone tell you how code works, haha.




To link a picture, it's <img src="imgsrchere"/>

For a black background try using CSS. So what you'd do for inline CSS is:

Place the following CSS code between your header tags of cutenews:




That should modify your background colour, I'm not sure how cutenews works...but try that.
