Sort of philosophical question

I've been talking to some of my co-workers, who are now saying how different 'kids' (people under the age of 21) are from them when they grew up. There's been articles and posts around how this 'generation' expects things handed to them, that they do not need to work to get things, you've probably heard the same things I have.

I am just curious as to what you guys think? Is this generation a lot different/more selfish from generations past? Or is it just that every older generation attacks the just younger generation from them saying how bad they are in some things?

Umm we wouldn't know... Seing as we weren't around then, I rekon there's some truth but I rekon they exadurate a bit too. the thing is though the way young people act is going to change over time, it's gonna happen due to the changes in society and the way the world around us works, I'm sure the kids before them were less wanting etc. But because of new technology and lifestiles the way we act is different. In the future it will be different, human behaviour will never stay the same, so yeah we may have changed but it's through no fault of our own it's society changing and us adapting to it...

And yeah, I think with every generation it's getting worse. I don't know how it can happen so fast, but I don't recall kids being nearly as spoiled, stuck up and worthless as they are today.

you can't generalise that to every kid though, cause some are getting worse doesn't mean all are and it's their parents allowing them to do it. Like if someone is wanting and spoilt it's their parents fault a bit, if everyone was raised well there wouldnt be all this... SO in a way it's the elder's faults too

I'm 23. and I can't beleive there's so much of a difference already. High school kids are WAY fucking different from when I was there. it's like, damn.

But I think the rediculesly fast-growing technology has a ton to do with that.

Are you sure they've changed or maybe you were just like them when you were in school, or have you always been 23?

I know I've changed, and I know how I've changed. And I was nothing, (for the most part), like all the high school kids I see/meet these days. They just.... seem to think they know EVERYTHING already. And man, if they only knew, how little they actually know about everything, ...well, it'd probably humble their asses up real quick.

And I can't quite see how you can put every kid under a huge umbrella of arrogance just because one person, me, made a slightly arrogant, but realistic commment on the inevitability that with each generation humans are bound to improve in everything that they do.

honestly most older people hate kids who aren't doing what they would be doing as a kid, or that they're not persuing dreams they had. my uncle is like that, he looks down upon me because I'm not in college, and that I'm not some high paid worker like a doctor or something, only because his son is, and he talks about him non stop.

My life has been completely different every year the last couple of years.
Before age of 12 I was scum, wrong friends. Went to high school and got "better friends".. all my all friends are hanging on the streets all day now.. When I was 14 I was like being bored all day playing Counterstrike, making mods for games etc. Aka no life. Then I turned 16 started was more hanging around with rich kids, being a pretty neat guy, going to parties getting wasted etc. Quickly learned they were all pussies and not the type of friends I wanted. Then I got a whole other attitude.. started skating and it was like I was young again (being a little rebel) but this time I had control of myself.. got my own style, didnt give a shit about anyone, had my own will and everything. That was when SNF was pumpin.. now Im still the same but am a little more grown up and my interest from skating/stunts has changed into more parties and fucking around with people.

But it only takes a few years of living on your own and supporting yourself to realize that NOTHING that seemed important in highschool remains important once you are out and just living life on your own.

It's so many things too. I wish I woulda realized all the time I was wasting on BULLSHIT when I was young. I shoulda been editing video! But the technology was still pretty damn expensive back then......

I don't know, I feel the same way about kids that are younger than me, getting cell phones at like age 7 and shit.

But I guess older people think the same thing about me, getting glasses when I can't see, like some kind of city slicker.
