I've got a trojan on my PC, didnt know how to fix it, so I got myself and IT mang round and he told me that the trojan had re-configured Norton to block my own internet access.

He then went on to say that I needed to download a trial from and anti-virus company to rid my self of the trojan.

Recommend anything?

As we say in the Linux world...once your system is "rooted" or "compromised" then it won't really function well, properly and be insecure until you've reformatted as the registry is modified and the kernel has arbituary code inserted into it. But, if this Mcaffee trial works for you then, then it should be okay until you visit the next porn site.

mcafee is a piece of shit and wont be able to do anything about a real virus if you have one.

pm me and ill link you to my norton corporate installer, its the best scanner out ther and it doesnt slow down your computer at all. its not an illegal download btw.
