I'm in a spot right now where I can get a Sony PD 170 for only $850 which I'm most likely going to buy. I was just wandering if the cam has night vision capabilities or not? do you think I should buy the cam for that cheap of a price or do you think it's a scam. the guy originally told me $2000 and said the price was negotiable, so I e-mailed him back saying I could only afford $800. he said $850 with shipping. good deal not sure if it's for real or not. he has a website, I'll post the link if anyone wants. but back to the question. does the PD170 have night vision?

I'm pretty sure that's a scam. That cam is just like the VX series, but with XLR adaptors. No night vision, but you can always buy a light.
If you do buy it, but hate it due to the fact it has no night vision, I'll trade you my sony for it.

a pd170 was a $3000 cam last time I checked. Price might have gone down a bit since HD cams came about, but not that far down...
Post the link. Is he saying the cam is new or used? I dont see how this could not be a scam....
and Wilbur is right, no night vision. They rarely put night vision on prosumer cameras.
