Boris is a legend, plain and simple. If he doesn't get in I'll emigrate to a less insane country, like China.

The dude I wanted to have as president of the US was Mike Gravel.

He said the first thing he would do in office would be to tax Petroleum up to 45 dollars a gallon to FORCE Americans to stop using their cars and use public transport. Plus, it would force the oil companies to put more money into alternative fuels. Genius!

They can't just cut it off, surely they would need to come up with a solution to get people by whilst the transition period happened?

He obviously didn't think it through.

That would be great but it would also have pretty drastic effects on your economy, and I don't think you have too much room to fool around with your economy as it is :P

Yeah that would be fantastic having to steal everyone's gas just to get anywhere. Especially since where I live, you have to drive at least 25min to get to any city (and not good ones either).

It never would have gotten through Congress, sillies. It's just the fact that he was willing to force change; change we desperately have to make but won't unless we're forced to.

And, our economy wouldn't be nearly as bad off as it is now if we would have found a cheaper energy source 15 years ago. I'm not an economist, but I know that a large part of our nation's brewing recession is because of the high cost of living mixed with low employment. Gas cost is one of the largest contributing factors to our cost of living right now. He would have eliminated that altogether. Fucked people up in every other way, though.

I totally agree with you that we need a gas alternative, but what the hell would we do with our current cars/trucks/suvs? Converting them over to some other type of fuel would probably put everyone even further in debt than they already are. This country is a sinking ship either way. Too many ignorant conservative Christians refusing any kind of reasonable change and basically fucking everything up because they figure it wont matter because God gave us this earth to fuck up. Disgusting. Image file not present in the recovered backup

By raising gas prices he would have lowered your cost of living? Or are you saying that by raising the gas prices he would have eliminated the demand of gas and thus lowering the cost of living in your country? But what would you have used for transportation? And what would happen to the automobile industry in your country if there suddenly was no need for cars? Who would employ 15 million Mexicans then? :P

PS I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm always just having a hard time understanding your intellectual insights

PS2 you're still pretty well set regarding gas prices compared to the rest of the world. When I was in the US in 2004 and noticed the gas prices I thought that 'wow, they're actually closing in on us on gas prices' but then I realized that you don't fill your cars by the liter :)
