Why we shouldn't say words like retarded or gay

before you read this article I wrote relize that it was an assighned by my Drama teacher do to the fact I said retarded and gay alot. She told me to write an essay about why I shouldn't say words like that, I decided to write this instead. I hope you enjoy

Why we shouldn't say words like "retard" or "gay". Honestly I don't know why, but seeing as how I am Funk Master Steven, I thought it best that I be the one to tackle this subject head on. To really go to its house and beat it down on its own porch.

First off why is the word "retard" offensive? Most people associate the word "retard" with the mentally handicapped, is that my problem? I realize that the mentally handicapped are not retards, honestly I don't even like the term "mentally handicapped" how do we know were not the ones that are "mentally handicapped". For those who say we shouldn't say "retard" because it's offensive, I just want to know, why? How is it anymore offensive than the widely accepted word "stupid" or "dumb"? Is it because those same people see the mentally handicapped as "retards" this could be the only reason. If not then why? I say the world "retard" to mean stupid, it just sounds better to my ear and rolls of the tongue I guess, I don't even think of the "mentally handicapped" when I use the phrase. Webster's Dictionary defines stupid as "...pointless; worthless", to me that means the same as retarded, so why shouldn't I say it? Because it sounds worse, if it means the exact same thing why should I sugar coat it? To make others feel comfortable? If they didn't think that the "mentally handicapped" need to be treated like there not there and just not mentioned then they wouldn't care, is it my fault that they make that association?
Which brings me to my second point, the word “gay”? When I think "gay" I think "queer" which by definition means "weird, or odd". But then I guess I’m at fault as well, because when I something is gay, I just mean it's stupid. So if I stick to my own though process is everything that is weird, or odd stupid? Of course not. But then if we get into that where do we draw the line? If I say that something is "cool" by definition that means that it is "of a lower temperature than average", same with "tight" or "fresh" both mean the same thing, but if taken in literal terms mean completely different things all together.

In conclusion, the people that find words offensive are really just insecure with themselves. People need to take words in context, by me saying "that shirt is retarded" and you saying "that’s a bad word and you must think it's funny to make fun of the mentally handicapped" that is as ignorant as these scenario of me saying "wow that shirt is cool" and you saying "uhh you said that shirt was cool but it doesn’t feel cold to me, your an "idiot"".

I hope who ever reads this article gets this far and enjoyed it. If not that’s not my fault if you didn't enjoy it and I'm not going to feel guilty because you didn't.

Although teachers are there to help they also learn alot of pupils, I know I tough my teachers somthing. My network admin at school was dumb as fuck, I could have took over his job with ease. You learn somethign everyday, whether it be from a child or a adult, your never to young/old to learn.

I always chose to humiliate my teachers in front of the class, it was quite simple. Every time I did it, I'd get in trouble, but they were less likely to start shit with me the next time around. It was funny when they would try to teach the class something, and it would be incorrect and someone would point it out, mostly me, just to be a jerk. The stupid teachers hated me. Almost makes me miss school.

Great article Al, It's wierd that I was going through the same thought process the other day.

This happend today. In my science skills class ( they stuck me there cause I needed a extra science credit, I'm in grade 11) I have a fat ass christian teacher that likes to sneak in god all the time in her lesson like telling us that the first cell came from god, anyways she was going over homo and hetero-genious traits in genes and to get it through to the class said " Hetero means different, you know like heterosexual means liking the opposite sex, and homo means the same, like homosexual, which most of you arn't thank GOD." So I raised my hand and asked why she was so predjudice. (even tho I knew most of the class would think I was gay for arguing with her about it) She being the dumbass bitch that she is only associates the word predjudice with racism so she immedately denies it cause of several black kids in the class. So I explain how she just prejudged every gay person and said that I had a gay uncle and was very offended by the comment. She replied with something about how gays arn't going to heavan or some shit like that. So I said I don't think fat people are either and she shut up and the whole class busted out laughing. I hate christians
