In my experience, no. The CTR (Clickthrough Rate) is very very low, and thus the actual income revenue, unless you own a high trafficed site is minimal. The best way to earn cash from advertising, is to get people to personally advertise on your site. Not as easy, but if you have the time you sure can earn a hell of a lot more.

heh, thanks.

This isn't even for my team, so I shouldn't have asked in General Homegrown, but it's for my NJROTC Unit, I figured if we could earn some cash we could get stuff to better the unit.

...it IS a freewebs site, but only 'cause the site isnt too important to me.

Nice of you to mention so. Unfortunately Adsense never worked for me, but it depends if you are willing to invest time spamming your site with ads, rather than have a simple top rotation banner queue. Whatever floats your boat though, and I daresay..most high traffic sites (40,000 + UNIQUES a month) tend to have a high success rate with personal advertising relationships, where a single banner in a rotation of 10 will cost 500 per month for however many preset banner views and CT's.
