ok so I have recently bought a new cam that takes dv tapes and the only way I know getting the footage off them is by going on capture video from device either on windows movie maker or premiere but the quality is shit and looks like its has been filmed with a web cam or somethink see what I mean
videocould someone tell me if they know of any other way to get the footage off ??????/

What quality are you importing then exporting it in?

it just says best quality for playback on computer (recomended)

Yes you NEED a fire wire other wise the quility is shit ....ever seen some old UW videos...they were captured on a usb...there un-wachable

USB only has 12mbps bandwith whereas firewire has 400mbps.

Yes get a firewire card they are only 30 bucks.. you dont need the ones with expensive software.

Uh if you already have a firewire card, of course you only need the wire.
My firewire card was 30 bucks with cable included.
