A few notes that I need to get out to some groups. The editing process has fully started but I'm running into a few problems.
Rejected, your footage is overly pixelized. You must have sent heavily compressed files. I can't use this footage but could possibly put a few of your good clips in the bonus section.
GMC WHAT, you sent your footage on a DVD r + as avi files. My editor can't get your dvds to play, and I believe he told me that avi files don't work on macs. Can you send out copies of your footage on mini dv?
I expect editing to be finished in about 3-4 weeks.
Other groups that are still working on sending me footage, you really need to send it out to me next week or it will be too late.

14 October 2005, 22:53 UTC#18

I know I've been a dick to you in the past but I will stop, so please do me a favor and just let them deal with it without you and moody bitching back and forth
15 October 2005, 01:28 UTC#21
I only asked the same question 3 others did in this thread and it doesnt matter because he's blocked me anyway. Stop bitching dude.

Yeah man, usually. I mean, they edit digitally ("non-linearly") a lot of the time on Avid or Final Cut systems, but they take it in from film and it gets printed back out to film. They dont just edit from a bunch of little already-compressed clips. High end editing packages aren't really designed to deal with that, they will because they are versatile but sometimes you have to coax them.
And for all who say AVI is universal: the format is but you can use a shitload of different compression formats inside AVI files, many of which are Windows only. Likewise I can churn out AVI files on my Mac all day that Windows users cant read.
Sorry for the thread jack
15 October 2005, 08:42 UTC#25
Yeah fair points.
Regardless, he should be able to convert it pretty easily. I dont know what he's going on about.
And next to none feature films are edited on Final Cut.

I might be able to send you some footage, via mini DV tape, but how much time do we have to send this in? I no it's late but I forgot about it.
We might be filming some new stuff, just for the HG DVD, so what do I need to do now to send you footage, your address, etc.
Email me [email address redacted] if you can, thanks.
