if you're a big limewire fan like myself then listen up, I heard they've already began to enforce their copyright-protection schemes, (keep in mind it's just a rumor I heard, and this is the internet) so they're going to make everyone "electronically sign" before you can download their program, and if you install an older version, it will error out and not work if it doesn't connect with their new technology.
I think it's bullshit, but I wanted to see if anyone else as heard anything. cause if you download their current client, you'll notice it doesn't work like the others use to.
discuss?

Im also a big fan of limewire. Its the only sharing program I use, and its pretty much the only one that works on my comp without loading extreme amounts of spyware on to my comp.
If this is true thats insanely gay. If anyone needs one of the older versions for whatever reason, let me know, cause I have it.

Yeah, I got pro, works fine. Everyone at school has limewire, so I'll tell you guys what happens.
Just get soulseek guys. It's the best.
04 October 2005, 03:51 UTC#21
Yes limewire is "protecting" content by asking the user if they are sure they want to download it and that it doesnt have a license thing. lol, I think they are just doing to for legal reasons.
04 October 2005, 03:51 UTC#22
I'm a heavy limewire user and no, these rumours are false. The Gnutella network will always be free and since limewire just piggy backs it, it will stay free as well and unrestricted.

limewire is my little bitch
04 October 2005, 05:03 UTC#24
I think the limewire thing is what it is.. a rumor and its probbaly fake cuz if it were true it would be here..
http://filesharingplace.com/ and it's not..
04 October 2005, 11:27 UTC#25
I doubt Limewire's going to go much further than their notification of 'This file isn't licensed, do you wish to proceed?' thing. I mean, granted I've only been using the program for a month or so now, due to WinMX being shut down Image file not present in the recovered backup, it's still the only program I use.
04 October 2005, 11:39 UTC#26
ya it's too popular, they wouldn't fuck their name up like that.. I never believe rumors anyway, I just thought it would make a good discussion.
04 October 2005, 11:42 UTC#27
That dosn't mean they still might not give our IPS to the ppl that track this kind of shit.... That is why I have Peer Guardian to stop ppl like that scaning my computer for downloaded shit.
04 October 2005, 11:45 UTC#28
Yeah, but remember what happened to Napster... They were big, and then they got FUCKED. So maybe Limewire might have something coming for us sometime in the near future.
04 October 2005, 16:17 UTC#29
I bet none of you people (apart from the guy one post up) are using Peer Guardian whilst downloading.
You're all gonna get fucked sooner or later.
