I think it's definately a valuable piece of software in terms of editing so I aqquired it yesterday and downloaded a good tutorial that's split into about 14 700mb videos. I'll have a look at the first video tomorrow. I'll be doing a uni course next year called Media Lab Arts - basically Digital Arts and this software is a necessity.

How have others found it? What have you produced with it?

A member of despro works with it, I hung out with him at uni once to check it out.... its fucking awsome, seriously. It takes ages to get used to it (apparantly).

Hes teaching me how to blur faces.... where did you get it.... wanna share?

you can blur faces in premiere pro. Actually...alot of the shit you can do in after effects can be done in premiere. I learned it a few years back but never needed it for anything. I found alot of its effects to be cheesy.

Yeah premiere is good, but if you want to get really technical with editing After Effects is the way forward. The effects that are cheesy are the plugins, you can design so much more.

yeah the effects were good...but there were a few cuts I didn't like...
and I don't care if "it's meant to be like that"
when a shot looks like it physically jumps that means it sucks
it's suppose to flow...but some of those didn't, and it fucked the style
it started off well....but it fucked itself...
that's my 2 cents...

Yeah, that video deserves it's own thread. A friend (has been quoted 'Digital Artist of the year by the Computer Arts magazine) and myself filmed some stuff over a year ago that is similar to that style (having something chase a person), but we never got round to editing it in After Effects, that's why I'm learning it now. I can send you the video if you're interested.

Hmm they have the talent to be able to do that, it's A LOT harder to edit choppy footage, it seems more real to me the way it is.

Of course it's the free trial ;)

Hmm it's better to create your own effects I think cause standard ones just get over used eg. lense flares :|
