Well today I noticed that I was sharing over 200 files, when I only had about 20 files in my shared folder. Then I discovered that there was another folder that downloaded itself with the 200 files in it. I deleted that folder and reseted my computer. Again the folder was downloaded. So I uninstalled limewore. Now every 5 mins I get this pop up saying that limewire was unable to load. It keeps trying to launch itself, even though I uninstalled it. what should I do?? My only guess is that limewire is being run by another program, is there any way I can find out what program is running it?

hmm. have you tried a a virus scan or somethin?? I dunno, limewire sucks ass anyways, Ares is the best
20 August 2005, 01:24 UTC#3
shit I hope I don't have a virus, cause I don't have a virus scanner...which one should I download?
20 August 2005, 01:32 UTC#4
mayb limewire is still in your startup, it tries to load but cant as there is no program installed??? mayb check your startup and see.
20 August 2005, 01:34 UTC#5
maybe...except I don't know how to do that? could you tell me and try to make it as easy as you can?
20 August 2005, 01:43 UTC#6
ok, best thing 2 do is click on my computer..so it opens, then on the left should be a "add or remove program" double click that...wait 4 a new screen 2 pop up..check if its there...if it is..click it 2 remove...if not...well, then it may be just a lil bit harder

20 August 2005, 02:07 UTC#10

20 August 2005, 03:05 UTC#11
Ok everytime I start up limewire, a new shared folder gets created called "Complete" In this folder is over 100 unzipped files such as porn, movies, and programs. I don't know how this folder gets created but I want it to stop. Now I looked at the properities of the folder, and it is "hidden" Theres a check mark on the box beside hidden and it is unabled to be changed. Now I just want to know how I can delete this folder without it coming back.
plz help me!!!!!

hmm, just when downloading it...a pop-up from my anti-virus popped up, making a screcching noise, and on it read, some shit and I could only hit one button which was "derminate" that and my ad-aware program popped up sayin some shit about a d/l not safe, and should abort or some crap...I really didnt care, I just wanted out of limewire from then on
20 August 2005, 03:35 UTC#20
Someone said it could still be in your startup. If it is, try this:
Go to START> Run> type msconfig> STARTUP
If theres anything in there that is about limewire UNcheck it.
20 August 2005, 03:56 UTC#21
nope, nothing there, I think it might be adware since its a folder that keeps adding itself everytime I reset my computer. How would I get rid of it?
20 August 2005, 07:37 UTC#22
Are you sharing all your documents?
20 August 2005, 07:46 UTC#23
answer: Limewire on your computer is set to be a 'supernode' or gateway, I forget what limewire calls it...but in file sharing programs u can basically chose an option to turn you are computer into a hub or gateway for others. Soo files get sent through you to others. Basically, if one person has a file and 25 people are trying to get it, limewire will automatically dish out the file to supernodes to help spread the bandwidth. Just uncheck this option and you should be fine.
20 August 2005, 13:38 UTC#24
God some of you talk crap.
If you are having problems with the application, the best option is to reinstall Limewire, then scan your PC for media. Once this has completed, to prevent users downloading your files, go to "Tools" then "Options" then in the menu you will see "Sharing" click the directory shown there once and then to the right of it you will see "Remove" click that.
Done.
Edit; That was translated whilst clicking around in my Spanish version, the English version may not be the same.

get "webroot spyware sweeper" on a free trial. also try going to the run option on the start menu then type msconfig then on the general tab select diagnostic setup.
