MPG

There have been lots of talk about wich is better wmv of mpg. I have allways prefed mpg, it plays lights and colors more clear and does not have that pixelated stuff once in a while like wmv. Mpg is also compatible with everything, like linux and macintosh, unlike wmv. People allways complain about the filesize with mpg....

Anyway here is my site promo, twice. One is mpg(5.81mb) and one is wmv(5.78mb). D/L them and watch em and vote on poll, whic is better mpg or wmv.

Explain why? There is no reason to like bad quality format that doesnt work with anything.

What program and what settings did you use?

sony vegas and 800kbps but wmv conforms to approx 800 un like mpeg wich is exact. hence the smaller file size on the wmv

The wmv looked good, but the mpg didnt really work for me. I think it may depend a lot on what program you use. But as I use Ulead6, Pinnacle9 and WMM, I´d say Pinnacl9´s vcd mpg quality is superior. Ulead doesnt do anything but mpg´s and dv-avi so.... so between

Mpeg, I used it for prom02 and love the quality.
I love the way Vode's clips are in MPEG and I can really notice the difference, I think the file size is worth it.

And just to add, Everything is more clear. and how cool does mpeg sound. so pro and horney Like Vode.

It's all in context.

WMV for compression and general online stuff.

With a 2mb WMV, and a VCD MPG, the file sizes are about the same, and id have to say .WMV

Actually 1.5mb wmv the filesize is the same. And you dont really want to release anything with worse quality than that, takes lot of joy to watch poor quality clip.

im on a mac, so definitely MPG, altho wmv is better for sharing files online.

Because of that format, I had to spend an hour modding mplayer on my Linux system, to play a codec officially only supported on Windows systems. *Hiss*

Yeeeey gman uses Linux just like me! It is not so difficult to have vmw supported. in mplayer But some files will never play, because of DRM, and there are problems with special files, like High Definition wmv playback. And mplayer is not very actively developed anymore. But it still plays back 99 % of what I watch, so it is good enough.

The two above look good, both the mpeg and the wmv. The wmv have much higher resolution (double in both directions). I vote for mpeg, because it is much more compatible.
