I just read 289 pages full of whining. And didnt get it, at all. Only thing it did to me was annoy.
Why the fuck is this book so big thing? Bands make songs about it, intellectual people talk about it, its mentioned bunch of times in different movies etc. Everybody knows it, and it should be best thing after chocolate-cerial.
But I dont see anything great about it... discuss.

But if so many people are talkign about it and using it (intelectual people) its either one of two things y u dont get it, 1. Theres nothing to get and these people make their own conclusion from it and make themselves sound inteligent or 2. Your stupid.

we had to read this in school where you reading it for fun or something I just read spark notes but its a really shitty book and really has no point its suppose to be about the "american dream" but its jsut a load of shit

That book is usually brought up because it's really controversial. It was banned in a lot of states because of the one part where the kid gets molested. I think it was one of those things where it was one of the first books of its kind to tackle an issue like that, especially with the retarded kid, so everyone sort of looks to that as a basis for comparison to alot of other books that sort of break the boundaries of literature etc.

Yeah it was pretty messed up. I know that almost all of the southern United States had it banned until the 80's. Now it's like in every high school's curriculum, it's kind of weird. I thought it was a pretty good book actually, definitely well-written and it had a retarded kid getting his willie whacked. What more can you ask for?

Yeah thats weird I just finished this book, and was disapointed as it was supposed to be the greatest novel of our time. But I will tell you the point is it has no point, the whole thing is a giant symbol for clinging to youth and innocence. Not that great.
