you need a programme called "Steam" to play, or something similar download steam:

thats actually what I just downloaded I thought it was counterstrike but it wasnt it was steam I signed up and everything now I want the came you guys now how to do that shit?

The game should be installing, check the monitor on steam (in the taskbar) right click and go to monitor, if its not downloading, start downloading it, you will also have to download Half Life.
When I installed, it took around 4hours, on a 512k connection.

Because you havnt paid for it yet dude. If you pay for hl2 then you will get a code unlocking all the other games for you to play.

Yeah, you buy games like Half-Life then type that "CD key" in and download the games. (since Steam the CDs are useless) If you buy Half-Life you get a bunch of Half-Life mods (including the new counter strike) and if you buy Half-Life 2 you get some source games. (how many depends on how much you pay for HL 2) You can download 3rd party mods for free too, once you have HL or HL 2. I'm cheap so I haven't bought any source games... it would probobally lag on my computer anyway.
