1 way that is kind of dificult is add a new layer and color.then change the oparacity..but then you have to chop it up to make everything work..the better way is to Blending Options>Color Overlay ore Gradient Overlay

Make a new layer, select overlay right above your layer options, then fill it with whatever color you want.

if u want a full spectrum or a few colors I would
1: make a few transparent layers
2: on each layer select a different hue
3: fuck about with opacity and the feather them together

Press Control+U and select the colorize box. Fuck around with those settings.

edit: Do the same thing on seperate layers and use a layer mask then a black/white gradient tool on each?
