It's not completely finsihed yet, but I've lost all inspiration, I tried to make the man pulling the night blend a little better but it was too hard.

I yearn for the day that people use their own images. No one even gives credit for the stuff they use here :|

Yer, but were not all photographers, im shit and taking photo's so I gotta use other peoples', otherwise I can't do shit. The photos arn't anything significant, just a bridge and city I used, no need for much credit there are hundreds of photos just like that so its pointless.

have you?

it's kinda hard for someone to give exact credit, expecially me, since I have must of my stock photos saved, I'm not going to go back onto DA or SXC and look up the pictures I used so I can say, "hey thanks to wildrosegirl for her awesome flower picture she took." as if she's going to come on here and say "well wow! you're welcome!"

if nobody asks, you don't tell. my motto.

As that guy that got beaten the shit out of in Indecline v1 said 'Artists respect artists.'
How would you feel if you found your hard work being used in someone elses piece and being passed on as their own?
To give credit just say: Bridge photo from this site.

And yes I do use my own photos.
14 December 2005, 00:44 UTC#1,372
im not going to credit everything I use...when you really get into work...you can end up with 15 to 20 layers...im making a piece...not giving a thank you speach at the grammies...

edit** I dont put other people's work over as my own...I borrow from theirs and hopefully, if things go right, add to their picture to make it better...by the time you are done...most people dont even know their piece was used...minipulation changes things to much

not all of us can you see , if everytime I wanted to make a piece in ps , and I had to go take a photograph or a carpark or flowers or what ever , then wait for them to be developed and then scan them in, I would have lost all inspiration.

bit difficult to credit images u find on google

So you're saying you wouldn't have anything to show if it wasn't for them, and you don't appreciate that?

I can see a trend on HGF. People want to be really skilled at Photoshop, so instead of learning how to use pens and techniques, they just find some good photos and add scanlines to them or chuck a random overlay layer over it.

It's not hard to credit images found on google, just give the site address you got it from.

Well if I didn't want my artwork used, I wouldn't put it on Sxc.hu or anything like that, if they put it up then I think it's fine to use without mention.

That's because that's a stock image site. But a lot of people here use peoples work outside of that like Deviantart, which contain copyright laws.

all pictures I have ever used was from stock xchange, and even on there it says it removes all their rights when they upload their pictures there, and if.. IF.. they want it to be credited they make it where you must email them and tell them what you're using it for.

yeah, that's why it's called stock, they put it up for any use an artists needs it for.. must I post this again?

Stock photography is photography or other imagery of common landmarks, concepts, and events that can be used and reused for commercial design purposes. Book publishers, specialty publishers, magazines, advertising agencies, film makers, web designers, graphic artists, interior decor firms, corporate creative groups, and other entities utilize stock photography to fulfill the needs of their creative assignments.

you don't need to try and be some hippie artist here. you must respect and be respected artists motto! that's like telling everyone not to download illegally, it's the internet. if I was able to go around and find out how many people have stolen my artwork and tell them it's wrong, I'd have no life.
