I thought like photography wasn't meant to be overly edited or tweaked? Surely then it becomes more a photo manipulation than like a decent photo?

what'd you do to it? and you're right sam, any kind of physical change to the image is considered a manipulation. but changing the color or light levels is still photography.

yeah too much manipulation takes away alot of the skill, but like adem says, a littel tweaking on things isn't too bad.

I really want to take some images like that joe of moving water, but can't find any water falls or rivers that would allow me too near here. bah!

Yer only the lighting levels were changed, I mean, I don't think there needs to be such a distinction between a photo and a manipulation, plus wouldn't that also mean that changing the shutter speeds etc, could also be considered manipulation? I just like a nice image, using as much media as you can. Yer she took the image when she was up in cornwall got quite a few done, look amazing some of them.

To Adem, just changed the colour levels and brightness, no changing of the image other than that.

I dunno, I wouldnt count any in camera stuff as photo manipulation as thats all part of photography, post production of the image though, is minpulation, not that im saying it's a bad thing, just changing as littel as possible is better imo as it stays truer to photography, but there's always a place for editing of certain images.

Yer I understand, thing is she always prefers her images after editing, because she says the camera dulls down what she wanted to see, if that makes sense. I'm just all up for using as much as possible if it's needed to bring out the image or piece of art you want. She prefered the image after I edited it, so we kept it:D

looks amazing, I love low shutter speed on water, makes it look like ribbons.

there's a tool in photoshop cs that matches color from other pictures. take one of her photo's and find a classic painting from back in the day, one with lots of colors. and use it in that tool. tweak the sliders a bit, and you'll be amazed how better dull photos turn out.
