Upgrading Pc

Well, soon battlefeild 2 comes out and being the fat smelly loser I am I want to upgrade my pc to be able to run this game half decently.

So, can anyone tell me of the best sites they know to order cheap parts for a pc? I want to get a new graphics card preferably a Radeon and about 1 gig of ram, I already have 512mb of ram and a 64mb geforce 4 mx 440.

I really dont have mega amounts of money so can anyone who knows this kidna thing suggest parts to buy? or just cheap sites....

I'd reccomend you purchase a 128MB card, they are usually better than the 256's as when you have that much memory, its the size of the pipelines that actually matter.

Check your motherboard can accomodate the new DDR, and make sure its of the same type eg another stick of 512 DDR 400MHZ and your other is the same specs, or you may have compatibility problems.

Finally, I'd reccomend a trip down to PC world, as they do sell pretty damn cheap components

You know where the RAM bays are? If you pull out a stick then it should have a sticker with the specs written on it. Btw, it should be fine if that memory is 333mhz and you find new DDR in PCW or wherever thats 400MHZ, but that slows the new RAM down and is maybe best to get all new RAM if you have spare change left, although not essential.

Another thing, wht do I have to make sure is the same as my current one on the ram? The bus Clock rate? or The PC#### bit?

Is it the clock speed and pixle pipes I should be looking at? is 4 pipes good? and is 500 clock speed good?

The BUS clock speed, should say something like 333mhz, maybe slower. If you have an older PC it may run on SDRAM, in that case purchasing new RAM would be pointless as it won't be able to fit in your motherboards ram slots. Check this, SDRAM has 2 "indents" along the bottom where it slots in, DDR has one.

Well, the radeon are a pretty good series, I had a 64MB, lol and it was great. With the specs of that card, you are basically set for all games, its not by far the best though..but you don't want to spend astronomical amounts on something thats only good for 3 years. So thats a good deal.
