Greyscale/Colour Replace?

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this type of effect.....

I want to make all of the footage to greyscale, but I want a certain colour (eg. red) to show up in the footage so that it would be the only colour in the clip here a quick example of what id like it to look like.

convert the image to grey scale then in ps use the marqee tool to select the object . then press contol and u to colourize it

I was gonna do a longer one with me keep eatin the frames from the end of each clip, but I couldnt be bothered.........might do it later

basically u take the very last frame of the clip and print it out, hold it up infront of a camera and rip it up, and if u get it alined just right with the clip it looks awsome

I tried this and it works as it should, but does any one know I could do it so say one person is in black and white but every thing and every one else is in colour?

Use a greenscreen. Haha. Or edit every frame individually in photoshop or something. I dunno.

I thought about that, but it would take ages for a video that I wanna dothat will be nearly 5 minutes long. But last night, and I'm not ashamed to say this, I was watching the MTV movie awards and mariah carrey did a song and she was in colour all of her, and every one and thing else was in black and white. So it's possible to do without green screen, but how?!

Yeah man I don't think there is any easy way of doing that.

if I was you I would go with a green screen. Im sure somewhere in your house you have a blue or green bedsheet

well when u use the colour pass effect, it has tht "simliarty" effect control which increases the amount of colour on the screen, so if u keep laying down colour pass filters down and selecting every colour BUT the said persons colour etc:
then there u have it,

but the person need to be wearing really uncommon colours for it to work, so it maybe harder thn u think

Yeah I tried that, but when you put one colour pass on top of another if like doesnt let the one below it pass. So doesn't work from what I can see, but thanks any way.
