yes Tomm. also when installing and planning on dual botting you should be given the option to partician your drive/s it will offer you its own plan but you can change it.

I am not a noob with computers, I know my stuff, just never been arsed to get linux, but I am gonna expand the network at home. so ill give it a look see Image file not present in the recovered backup

Linux doesn't really have any trojans or viruses available either. Although you need to learn shell commands to install. One thing you CANNOT do is click and expect something to install. Most files come in a tar.gz format, you need to extract the contents to your home or root directory, then sometimes compile if needed and make the installl.
.rpm formats support click installations, however these arn't drastically available, and only work if your distro natively supports them (Redhat, Fedora, Suse etc) do.

Yes you can, I reccomend reformatting with windows first then installing LInux secondary, just check the partitioning druid on a Linux install that the Windows partition wil remain there, then just select the size of the partition you want to use for linux (generally 50% of HDD size) then you're read to go dual boot. At startup you get the option of booting with WIndows or LInux from a Linux distro's window.
You can access Windows paritions from linux, but not Linux partitions with Windows. And remember to use the fat32 format, as NTFS is not supported very well by the Linux kernel and is not writable to.
And NIco, integrating a Windows network from Linux is easier than having a Linux on Linux network

ah well thats ok then. I am gonna learn some of these commands your on about gazaa, coz ma c.l.I skills pretty much suck as just use the windows gui all the time.

Yeah, WIndows is so damn automated, a little too automated because it doesn't give you any level of control, especially over closed source applications
