Anyone else having problems with the forum today? It works fine for a few minutes then I get some timeout error and can't get back on unless I reboot. Total pain in the ass!

Presumably you are reffering to connection timeout error? Probably something to do with your browser cache, or maybe even your ISP's DNS cache servers

It just seemed to die on me. I can't remember the exact error but closing and reopening the browser didn't do anything.
It seems to be okay again now after about three reboots so hopefully it's sorted now. Crappy XP - I'll blame it on Microsoft Image file not present in the recovered backup

Just happened again. It's only this site I can't access and I can only get back on when I've rebooted and got a new IP Address. It's like the server's blocking my IP after a few minutes Image file not present in the recovered backup
I'll try using Internet Explorer and see if that helps.

Haha, so racist, but damn funny.
May be due to I installed BFD and firewalls on the server, so I'll add your IP to the trusted list in the apache config and check to see if that resolves the problem. The firewall has DS bad IP pools and blocklists activated, sometimes IP pools which are known bad hosts get blocked, therefore innocent traffic can be blocked

I've had to reboot and get another IP again. I'm using IE now and haven't got chucked off for a while. If you can add the IP I've got at the moment I'll lay off rebooting.

Tell me if it happens again please, I rebooted bind, then edited the firewall.conf file to ds=0

Thanks. I'll let you know if I get booted off again. I was wondering whether Firefox might be causing it. I've got Tweak Network Settings set to 'Power' which I've heard can upset things as it creates 16 connections in one hit and uses pipelining. Perhaps that tripped the BFD? Firewalls aint my strongpoint I'm afraid.

AH, thats the root of the problem. 16 connections at once does indeed trip BFD for apache, it then adds that IP to the block list. I probably should edit BFD's configuration tonight for apache to prevent any future occurences

Cheers dude. Sorry about that, with all the modern day script kiddies roaming the web, gaining root can be all too easy without the proper protection. Had loads of cases of BruteForce attacks, hazardous scripts this week alone. Adminning a server can be hard work at times
