I think the best thing for a n00b to learn is tables. Tables can make and break a website. If you use them right they can make it kick ass and all fit. And also I am a big fan of Iframes

Frontpage outputs the biggest load of bullshit HTML, the WYSIWYG editor sucks also. Using tables in WYSIWYG mode in dreamweaver is easy as hell also

TBH, at the end of the day, unless you want to code in php, using dreamweaver is as good as straight typing the html, even better as its faster

I agree that FP uses loads of crap code and stuff that is not needed. But its failsafe.

Also I am so damn used to it now and when I last tried to moved to dw I just got lost. I would rather use notepad then dw myself as I understand html more that way

Fireworks is pretty easy for a newbie too - especially if you are going to use Dreamweaver. They work together pretty well. You can do a design in Fireworks complete with rollovers, image swapping etc and then it will export all the graphics and create the HTML and JavaScript for you. You just need to open it up in Dreamweaver and away you go!

When you get to know your way around you can use Dreamweaver to do manual coding which is much neater but it's a goot start point. Dreamweaver copes with CSS and has nice error checking.

I don't get on with Frontpage and I find the Dreamweaver coding seems much neater. There are other proggies around but these are probably the most common.

My problem is I need to learn Flash but I'm always too busy...

Okies, I'll give it a try sometime. Main reason why I gave up was cause I couldn't figure out I-frames...And thats pretty basic so I thought fuck this.
