It seems that most bands that play anything remotely Progressive are boring live. The technicality of the music doesn't allow then to freak out on stage.

Not only that, The Mars Volta try to be a jam band and they suck at it. I saw them twice against my will opening up for System of a Down and Red Hot Chili Peppers and the time they opened up for RHCP they played two songs. One was 25 minutes long and the other was 41. No thanks.

Ha, that reminds me of Coheed and Cambria. When I saw them live they free styled during "The Final Cut" and drug it out to be about 30 minutes. I love them to death, but fuck it got old.

They're good, but I couldn't imagine watching them freestyle for a prolonged amount of time.

In fact, I'ma listen now.

ha ha, the whole time he had a door knocker on his guitar, and I was wondering when he was going to use it and what crazy effect he had wired to it. it was 20 min into this 30 min freestyle and he finally used it, and it was just a door knocker that produced just a little feedback. I was quite disappointed to be honest.

Saw them sunday night in melbourne, Kicked fucking ass. I've tried to score tickets to The Mars Volta like three times but they sell out so damn quick here, under half an hour.
Just listened to Slipknot's new song "All hope is gone" and...meh. Mad drumming, but that's about it.
