Hey what's up.
I'm trying to unload all the footage I have on my JVC GZ-HD10E to my computer (for the first time) and would very much like to edit them on Premiere. Problem arises in that the clips which are in .MTS are unreadable by my computer (and more importantly by Premiere 1.5), so does anyone know of an add-on to Premiere 1.5(!) that would make it recognize these files, OR if that is out of the question, a free good converter that would convert .mts footage into another HD vid type that is supported by Premiere 1.5?

WinAVI 8Program works Great and easy as fuckk to use. Just open and choose AVI, pick your video and for HD files you can choose 2 options to keep the quality while also reducing file size. Pick either Divx HD[720*480] or Divx HD[1280*720] and you will have an HD editable file.

Ok, sounds sweet, thanks Kev. And I will also put some serious thought on Imre's suggestion lol
So I take it there aren't any drivers that you would simply install and everything would work as a charm after that?
And Imre, does a default Mac read/edit .mts without having to download anything extra?

also the new prem is HD compat so might aswell upgrade.

Alright, I'm pretty much out of the loop as it is, but is the new Premiere still Prem 2.0 or is there already a 2.5?
And I'm afraid I will have to upgrade my computer before I can dream of anything better than my current Prem 1.5.. Which is obviously gonna be painful for my wallet :/

Well it doesn't open up fool proof right from the drive, but imports into newest imovie and you can just drag and drop clips from folder(imovie folder or something) into desktop and use them in w/e editor you want. (they come up as .mov)

the most updated version of premiere is CS4. basically premiere pro 4.

Premiere hates that format
I use vegas to convert it to dv avi, then edit

Apple's iMovie does indeed do the trick so I'm converting the files as it is on my brother's old Macbook. Macs do seem handy as fuck when it comes down to stuff like this, so the scales might have just shifted a little bit in favor of Apple. One thing that still keeps me reluctant are the ridiculously high prices though..
