Por-que-me

Hey guys.

Here's a short film I was director of photogrpahy for a week ago. Directed by my mate, and shot in one day, and all post done in a week, to enter it to the Virgin media Shorts competition.


If you could rate it and let me know what you think, that would be grand. I have my own feelings about it, but I will wait to hear from you guys first. But considering I only had one hours sleep the night before from powdering my nose and had to shoot it in one day, I'm pretty happy with the cinematography.

I thought it was solid until the end. The cinematography and mood of the video was really nice, but then it shifted to a sort of hand-held, reality type feel at the escalator scene. I thought the ending was off, both the story and film work.

Thanks for your comments guys. Totally agree. The actual scripted writing is abit shit, but I though it was solid untill the last 30 seconds. It just needs re-editing I think.

yeah the end kinda just sucks and doesnt seem like it fits. also why does she speak english in the begining and cant in the end?

fuck that yates about the end. the end was perfect. I loved how it got all rough at the escalator scene. gave it more of a real feeling I found.

either way, I really enjoyed it thought it was pretty neat and put 2gether really solid.

The ending, as said about a million times now, had a kind of unfitting reality feel to it. The rest was joy.

I dont know why everybody is on about the ending. I dont think it is unfitting. In my opinion, most of the vid has reality feel to it. To my eye there is lots of hand held footage without "proper" lighting. In the end the camera work is more shakey because of the running and all, but I like how emphasis the rush that scene has.

For me the unfitting scene is the office part, the good lighting and quality makes it stand out from the other clips. And not in a good way, yes it looks great, but is unfitting.

The storytelling was confusing: first she speaks english, then she cant, wait, w-u-t? Its seems that director wanted to compromise continuity for cool effect of simultauneous speaking in the beginning. Not a good call imo.

havnt watched yet but will when im in the mood for something like this.

thought same as well, but its only two minutes long so it can be checked even without the mood.

okay normally I wouldn't mock about this since most of us here dont really put effort in making good compositions and nice shots but since this is more pro I of course look at it closer.

so yeah, I liked the movie man, close up shots where really nice and cool litte story, indeed the last 30 seconds are a bit "confusing" and there were two shots that didn't look as good as the rest namely
the shot where he wakes up and the shot where she drinks coffee, probably the lightning/ colours but nothing major man, cool stuff!

And good observation. As the two shots you mentioned are the two shots I was asked not to light due to time restraints! Just shows you what a difference lighting makes.

The film was not entertaining.

Dex did some good angles. Felt like harold and kumar story (with maria and all that).

Can't wait till you get to work with some people on the same level of quality you are.
