Okay, macos is great and all but I hate the lack of choice they give you in return of big ass prices.

I dont have a lot to spend so I wanna make the right choice here.

Right now I don't have a laptop but we need them in our lessons on Monday and Tuesday, next of the week I dont really need a laptop.

Fact is, I would be happy with a normal MacBook but the only thing that makes me say NO to it is the fact that it doesn't have FIREWIRE which really really sucks imo because I want to work on my videos a lot.

So I could spend €400 more and get a MacBook pro JUST for the firewire but then I started thinking maybe I should get an iMac instead and buy me a cheap ass NORMAL laptop for the 2 days I have to use it at school. (it's just Photoshop and Illustrator at school for those lessons really).

What do you guys think?

That's what I'll prolly end up doing at the end of the summer

I bought myself a powerful pc laptop. Been pretty happy with it, but if I´d have to choose now, Id go with a powerful desktop PC (for all my computer needs) and cheap laptop (For shcool work etc). The price is pretty much same.

Wouldnt get Mac because I dont think its worth the brand premium and it would take time to get used to osx. (and so far I havent seen any superiority in it..)

Ok ok

Btw for some of you, I just found out u can buy an ADC Student Membership for $99, in return you get some free updates and you can get a once in a lifetime 20% discount on Apple Hardware (so 20% discount on a Macbook Pro or Mac Pro that is), so might be worth the try for some of u.

I got the low end white Macbook a few months ago. Took some time to adjust to it, but I really like it now.

I was going to spend a few hundred more and get the newer Macbook with the aluminum shell. The lack of a firewire port changed my mind though.

I'd get a desktop mac as a family computer one day. Keep from others fucking it about whilst I wank off to my own PC locked away in my room.
