Pc Crashing

ok so I run into big pc issues atleast every 2months, I normal sort things out one way or another or it fucks me over. this time though things are different I dont understand what the problem is, basicly everytime I open something "folder" "ie" "tab" "new window" it crashes the whole screen, I cant click on anything but I can move the mouse around the screen, not that its any help and nore is ctrl,alt,delete. it does nothing. so my pc just freazes. I have to turn it off and on again and hope it makes it to the desktop without frezzing again randomly on start up. iv tryed expressrecovery2 by holding down F12 on boot up. sometimes helps it get to a loaded desktop sometimes not. also an annoying worrying factor is if I click on a drive in my computer it gives me an error message of random shit, the only way I can get accecess to a drive is by searching for a file on a drive then opening it in window. if it dont crash. when it does work I can only atleast 1 ie and surf the net but sometimes opening a new website will fuck it up. I have to restart every 3mins to 10mins depending on how long it lasts.

I cant get a connection to update my AGV, but I have found and destoryed 7 virus. iv ran spybot and found afew things. spybot cant not be updated aswell and I cant update windows because the url sends me to google.com everytime.

iv tryed to search google for tips and shit to over come it but searching and link clicking crashes it so I have to start again. so if anyone can have a look for me and post helpful info I will be very greatful. if I cant find a way to fix it, I know format, but I dont think it'll let me get that far..

it solved all my issues

boot up into safe mode, then while there, uninstall avg. restart the comp, and im 95% sure you wont have those problems. something about a windows update and avg having conflicts. I switched to pc tools anti virus and havent a problem similar to yours since

edit - well it wasnt too similar to yours but avg has been conflicting with alot of computers im told

downloading programs and will get rid of avg tomorrow. thanks people

I'm not computer saavy but sounds like you need to save up and get yourself a mac before you fry everything. I've gone through 2 computers and 3 laptops, all which fryed, never had a problem with my mac for last 3 years.

I've never had a problem with my PC's. All 12 or so of them.

Just back up files, format, get AVG 8 and Spybot, use Google Chrome and don't go on sites which are flagged up by Chrome.

installed cs:s for some reason the other night cause I thought my badman pc with 3ghz of 4gb ram would handle it, nah motherboard fried and is fucked. im not gettting up tomorrow cause I use my pc as my alarm and im too tired to think of an alternative.

I have a old desktop, "new" lap top and old mac (g5). New laptop runs like a dream and Im pretty happy with it (but then if I had to chose at the moment I would propably go with good desktop and cheap lap top instead of powerful laptop). My desktop has been awesome, lately it has had some problems (because of weak power supply unit. Ive added extra dvd-rw drive, extra hdd and usb2 card to it so the old power supply cant handle it.)

Lately I´ve been using the g5 for internet and watching dvds, but I doubt I´d use it for anything else. Everything is so different when you are used to windows and it would take lots of time to become accustomed to it.

And I think my old desktop that pretty much has the same specs works better thant this old mac Image file not present in the recovered backup

I used to build and sell PC's.

My personal one is my 2nd build.

trojan remover removed infected files, I updated it, told me id used a keygen, went back to trial mode.

registry machanic came with keygen, but keygen is infected with virus so never opens, I ran trial version, it was going for 12hours lastnight and still seemed to be running but not doing anything or coming to an end so I had to cancelle it. and pc has gone back to normal sluggish self.

did the wincleaner and that hasnt fixed anything.

thinking since I built this pc at the end of last year and the only old component is the master harddrive I should just destory it and get a new sata drive for it. and start again...if I can back anything up that is.

Man, I would back up anything you need that's not a program, write zeros to your hard drive, format it to give it file storage information and install your OS again.

If that fails, then you might want look at a new Sata drive.

hey whatyaknow, it some how fixed itself after the trojans was sent home packing.

one thing I did notice though, I have two 2gig sticks of ram. it claims I only have 2gigs anyway. any idea how to activate the other 2gigs?

im still going to back up and move everything important over and whipe the drive, keep it as an extra and install a fresh sata master and start from scratch.

Do you have a 32Bit operating system or 64Bit?

You need 64bit os. to handle more ram. How do I check if my Vista is 64 instead of 32?

32 will handle 4GB, just won't show it up. But yeah anything more you need 64Bit.

It handles 4gb, but it doesnt show up? Whats with that?

It usually shows up at about 3 and a half GB's of RAM, not sure why Webs is only showing 2? :S

in winXP 'system' its saying I have 3gb of ram, but does not state 32 or 64mb anywhere I can see. I clearned some more trojans off my pc this morning now that AVG is updating again. need to check windows update next.

Id still say format when you get all your files safe.

yeah I always have a legal copy of windows, I cant be dealing with issues of a downloaded/cracked version.

im going to see how fixed it can get by running every program thats ment to help its preformance.

so if by weekend I anit happy with its state I'll start again but if it can be avoided then no point. I ment I brought everything new and had it built like 10months ago thanks to circa, so too early for a format I think.
