So there is this abandoned water park near me and after hearing about it for years I finally decided to go there. It took forever to find but I found an opening in the woods and knew I had located it when I saw a no trespassing sign and it said the place was under video surveillance.

Well I would really like to go in there and bring my 35mm camera and snap some black and white and color photos. The place has been abandoned for a dozen or so years and I know I would get some nice photos. I thought to myself the sign could just be there to scare people away but with or without video cameras the place is private and there is still some risk.

Basically I want to know if you guys think it would be alright of me to go there or would I get caught once in in to trouble. I'm sure some people here have run into these signs before for what ever reasons and I need some input.

I would most likely just be there shooting 2 roles of film and wouldn't be more than an hour or so. Also I don't plan on causing trouble, or drinking or smoking nothing like that.

if your really worried, find out who has the ownership to the land, and ask them if you can go in one time with them or someone to take some photographs, if you dont want to ask them. risk it and go in, and if you do end up getting caught just say I was only taking pictures. im sure you wont get in too much trouble if any for that.

Obviously there's no video surveillance, because what point would there be to spend money to guard a waterpark that has been abandoned for a decade, really if you think about it. But if you plan to take only photographs, I don't see why the owner of the land would deny you access if you just asked him/them.. Then there would be absolutely no risk.

Sounds like a sick spot to snap pictures.

Often landowners deny access to places, just because they cant be bothered.

And the visitors health would be on landowners responsibility and I think that could be serious issue specially in the states.

I dont know anything about us. tresspassing lwas, but in Finland you wouldnt get any trouble, probably you would just be escorted from the area. But I think I remember one incident where Urban Warriors (uk.) got fined for jumping of roof that was on private property.

honestly if your caught, nothing will happen. ull get a tresspass warning meaning if your found there again u can be charged. but really.

laws are only enforced if someone gives a shit. if your caught explain your a dork with a camera and everyone will have a laugh.

If it's been abandoned for so long then you wont run into any trouble. Its not like they have to hire security to look over the abandoned park for so many years. As long as you don't draw any attention to yourself while your in there you will be left alone. Even if they do have video surveillance there; which I highly doubt, they would only use it against you if you were damaging the property.

There's an abandonded factory near me with signs like that, it's an old factory from the war that used to make guns and ammo for WWII, I've been going there and taking some photos for years, although I lost them and need to take more but yeah, should be fine just be careful and cautious.

Here it is:

Even stores use the "we have muthafucking surveillance bitch so keep out"-trick, so I wouldn't be too worried about that. Also, what Duran said about just explaining you're an idiot, ignoring the crime you commited. Always works for me.

I went, I need to develop the photos off my 35mm camera, I'll probably go to the darkroom tomorrow, but I have to roll the film, process it and then I can print, so in a week or two I'll post them I'm sure my teacher will like them too.

But... I did get a few on my cell.

I caught something weird in this photo, don't know what the deal is with that weird ball of light but I didn't see anything while there. I noticed this when I got home and that's the original photo. The one below I messed around with to make it easier to see.

I looked more into the place and learned that during the 89' season that it was open some teenager fell off one of the water slides and died. After that nobody really went there anymore and it remained open for the 89' season but closed late 89' or early 90', most likely due to lawsuits.
