It's about fucking time the "DAVE" channel did something useful! New RD episodes. I cant fucking wait. Anyone else creaming over this?

Webby!?

"The cast of hit sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf are to reunite for a new two-part storyline which will see them finally return to Earth.

Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will air on UKTV digital channel Dave over the Easter weekend.

It will sit alongside two further new episodes – the improvised Red Dwarf: Unplugged, which will feature the cast dealing with no sets, effects or autocue, and Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind the scenes look at the new production.

The new two-parter will begin a decade on from when the crew of the Red Dwarf were last seen, with a "shock development" throwing Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten back to Earth.

Chris Barrie will return as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten, with the new storyline written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor. Filming of the new episodes begins next month.

Red Dwarf originally launched on BBC2 in 1988 and went on to air for eight series and 52 episodes, as well as a number of specials.

The new episodes are Dave's biggest commission yet and its first foray into scripted comedy."

I too am looking forward to the new 2-parter, I just hope it retains the magic that series 1-6 had.. I'll probabaly get flamed for saying this but season 7 and 8 had very little appeal to me due to the look of it (with the effects and "better" quality visuals)

hopefully back to earth will be a definitife return to form

I know what you mean, low budget gave it its look and feel, the polished cgi made it seem forced and lost its original magic. but im geussing this two parter will be high budget and give of a different feel alltogether as production has changed alot since then. we shall see, is there no screen shots online?

Is there even a single danish hockey team? It never comes up here, while in Sweden hockey is more popular than soccer.

is hockey gonna takeover this thread? Matt will be furious.

Denmark have plenty of hockey teams http://www.hockeyligaen.dk/ check it :p

and I have to disagree... soccer is atleast as big as hockey in Sweden.

now back on topic?

Hockey talk in a Red Dwarf thread??

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some new Red Dwarfness. I never thought we'd see Lister finally return to Earth.

Red Dwarf: Unplugged sounds interesting as well.

Bring on smeggin' Easter already!

I liked the whole "unfunny" thing they were going for with this show. Hit it on the head well good.

YES! I've been waiting for something like this to happen for years, although the proposed movie would be better... I just got the novel "Backwards" the other day, It's pretty kickass.
They really need to try and wrap up the entire storyline before Craig charles, Danny john jules, etc. get too old to play their respective roles.

Does anyone know which Holly will be in this? Although I remember the female one more from when I was a child, the guy versions sardonic delivery really turned me on to the character.

And I agree that these new episodes should have absolutely NO resemblance to the dreadful final two series'... They nearly managed to undo the previous six seasons of pure gold.

I feel it's gonna be Hattie Hayridge (female holly/hilly)
I read once that Norman Lovett would never want to reprise his role of holly... but then that could just be a ploy

to tell the truth though I dont care who plays the computer, I do however care if the mighty mr flibble re-appears

female holly was good because she was the only girl for alot of seasons. but the new holly was funny and had some great one liners, so dont care whos in this one. just hope its still really funny while it fills in the plotholes.

Yeah, even if hockey is huge in Sweden, football is still the number one sport there.

And Herning's a pretty known team. Not to forget that the Danes have more first round NHL draft picks than the Finns do in the past few years. Yannick Hansen, Lars Eller, Mikkel Boedker etc..

Sweet, I know both Hattie and Norman were doing "The two holly's" tour, or something similar awhile back, so maybe he's warmed up to the character.

Mr flibble... Bahaha, evil penguin mofo! I really want to see a repeat of those litter marching rimmers singing that terrible rimmer song.... One of my favourite moments.
I'm currently reading "Backwards" to get myself back into the RD mindset, although there's no real way to know when (Or even if) it'll get aired over here.
