so im looking to either buy a microphone or a fisheye for my HV30 fairly soon, and there is already a fisheye thread, so I made this one.

I know tom loves his sennheiser,
I know yates likes his rode

so anyone out there that has any experience with camera microphones, speak up. I want to know what to look for, the best deals, and where to buy. maybe this could be a good resource for people to look at later on in the life of HGF.

sennheiser or rode
From what I have read they perform quite the same. But I dunno what the Rode Videomic being "mono" means?? but take that into fact. Sennheiser I think is more monies also. Watch youtube compariison videos maybe

(I plan on getting a Rode NTG-1 for my dvx by may  )

'mono' is recording only one track, comparitively, 'stereo' is recording left and right seperately.

I wasnt trying to say ive narrowed it down to the sennheiser or the rode, im just saying I know those two people have experience with those two. I probably am going to by a stereo system for my room before I do anything with my cam, so I can plug my comp into that to test the sounds.

Rode is the cheap alternative to Sennheiser.

They're both good, but Sennheiser is better if you're willing to spend the money.

What he said. Rode videomic or Senheiser mke300(or whats his name). Both good, and inexpensive. Senheiser is bit better, but bit more moneys as well.

Rode videomic has the strange cradle attachement, I dont why it bothers me, but it kind of does, makes the mic feel kind of unstable. But I think its just the feel, no actual flaws there.

But go for senheiser if you have the moneys, imo.

-Rode owner.
