my internal mic is fucked. so I bought an external mic. I have a battery for my camera that is supposed to last like an hour and a half. and the battery is dying is like 10minutes. could the mic be draining my battery? could my battery be fucked. or is the cold just fucking with the battery?

Did you set the microphone level manually? Buy a new battery, surely the external mic has its own power source if it's a decent one?

I did set the mic level manually..umm that's the only way it'll work I believe. it's a small sony mic I bought for about 70 bucks

Well yeah that will definately use alot more battery power.
