Microsoft is just squeezing in under the wire to claim the rights to “weirdest tech story of the year.”Last night at approximately 2 AM, every 30GB Zune model on the planet crashed... The Zunes reset, powered up, then froze on the loading bar screen, and no conventional method of resetting them appears to work.

Microsoft's responded to the Zune 30GB failure, blaming a leap-year handling bug. And they've provided a fix. Which is to wait til New Years, when the bug will go away by itself. Huh.

Brand loyalists are idiots. Especially the ones who camp for either Apple or Microsoft

Eh, my friend has a 30GB Zune and I was over his house yesterday and we turned his on and were listening to music out of it. Everything worked fine.

My friend's brother's 30GB Zune did indeed crash.

I'm a fan of the iPod because it's just so good for what I want it for.
Other Apple products don't appeal to me though.

I'm gonna check and see if this happened to my friend's zune.

This exact thing has happened to my ipod, but I think its more down to just the shitness than any mythological apocalypse reasoningness.

I've had my 30GB iPod video for a few years and haven't had any problems. It has frozen up a few times, but that's about it.
