Installing A New Os

1. I just finished a DVD for a job I filmed. They are reviewing everything this weekend to make sure its good. I MIGHT need to touch up like 2 tiny things max.

My question is, if I backup everything on my computer and install this new OS. Will I be able to open up my projects to make corrections, or will it make me loose my sequences in Premiere? It saves under the "My Documents" for rendering/exporting video. So I saved all those files on an external and will replaces them.

Does anyone know what issues this will/might produce?

Quick reply's would be awesome because I want to put this super beast of a fucking OS on my machine asap.

I think it should be fine, as long as you keep all the file paths correct and stuff. I'm no tech though.

If the file paths are the same and you back everything up as one big 'My Documents' file then everything will be fine. Make sure you don't delete all your files when you reinstall haha.

I´d say you wait for the review. You cant be in that rush with new OS? Can you? I dont know if it will mess up tte projects, but just to make sure.

With computers there is allways so much that can go wrong and you probably dont even have an idea what happened when it happens.

Premiere can also easily loose auxiliary files and, anyways jsut wait the the week or what ever.

I haven't really read this thread I sort of skimmed over it so I may be wrong.

Almost anything can fuck up your projects, so I wouldnt take a risk.

What OS it is anyways? I bet thats important part of the results.

All Microsoft and Macromedia programs come with it no keys required for the OS or any of the programs.

I'm with R2. Just wait until you know everything's straight with the project, THEN do everything like you would otherwise.

Agreeing with everyone here.

While as long as you keep the file paths EXACT you shouldn't lose anything, and I'm sure you can always reconnect the data even if you don't, it's not worth the hassle.

I didn't put the new OS on yet. Decided to wait then this happened.

I actually uninstalled vista TODAY and not by choice. Shit wouldn't even boot properly for no reason at all. I basically failed a huge project because of it. THANKS MICRO$OFT!

I tried man, something was seriously fucked and during the installation process it kept freezing. I ended up completely reformatting with linux, since that was the only thing that let me recover all my files.

Now I'm downloading XP, since my disc wont work with my laptop, its getting some kind of driver error. Fuck.

I believe its a motherboard issue. What type of drivers should I try reinstalling though?

The only good Driver was the first one. After that one, they all really started to go downhill. Driver 2 was okay, but Driv3r was absolutely deplorable.

You could have a mother board issue or a failing HDD? Is the computer making a lot of noise, or strange noises is normally doesn't?


Always possible. If some of your RAM fried it could do crazy shit like that too.

Try re-installing ANYTHING you can find, especially the mobo and chipset (for the processor) drivers.
