We've all sort of known that Windows 7 would be released in 2009, but Microsoft made the firmest statements to date on the topic. In a technical session on Thursday, the company outlined that Windows 7 software would ship mid-year 2009 with pre-configured Windows 7 systems shipping in time for the 2009 holiday season. (Note, the company still hedges a bit by saying "within three years of January 2007.") It's also reported that those listening very closely during the presentation could hear the soft but violent shattering of Microsoft employee vacation plans everywhere.
Fuckers, talk about drip feeding, I own vista ultimate 64bit, and now they bring out another new one.... you can see why people fucking download windows!

Yeah, all that task bar stuff is cool and stuff...but is it really all that necessary?
I've been on XP for years and have been efficient and effective. All the "improvements" are cool and neat...but they're by no means necessary or really helpful. They're all just aesthetics. It's like the new Madden games that get cranked out every year now. They just tweak and improve very minor aspects that don't change the user experience all that much at all.
And they still sell it like a brand new product, even though nothing drastic has changed since Windows 93 or the equivalent of Madden 98 or something. It's still the same experience, just slightly prettier.

I've only just got digica (my work place) to start using vista, even tho all the laptops we buy come with it... I've been having to stick XP on them up untill last week.

Windows 7 won't support USB 3.0 natively......... ghey...

But at WinHEC last week there also emerged a rumor that Windows 7 won't support version 3.0 natively, due to the time constraints involved...unless the OS suffers delays perhaps.
