...along with the 'video essentials' fx pack from www.newbluefx.com... I'm using a pwm-ex1 at the moment... am I making the right choice and do any of you fellow hg's use it?

I would say get adobe premiere pro cs4 instead,
its so much better and it doesnt cost to much.
and if you can get the upgrade + after effect Image file not present in the recovered backup
I got mine from amazon for a really cheap price

thing is I never ever used adobe premiere before... and I thought maybe vegas was an easier to use platform...? but I'll look into it... is it easy to use?

If you don't pay for your software, vegas would'nt be such a bad 'purchase'. But if you're going to pay for, just go for the most professional, hard-to-use shit. Or else it is a waste of good cash.
