What's The Roots Of All This Stuff?

I'm pretty much a noob to this underground scene (been a fan of Sanchez/Jackass a good few years). Is there videos from before the days of CKY/Big Brother/Pritchard vs Dainton? I don't mean big professional Evil Kinevil type stuff, but more the home made stupid stunts videos. Is there stuff that predates CKY et al?

theres been amateur stunts caught on film for as long as there has been video cameras, theres no specific point that can be attributed to, no specific video that can be found unless you look hard enough for it... CKY just arrived at the right time

I've heard things about something called 'Whiskey' or 'Whiskey Videos', although can't find very much information anywhere.

Surely the date something is made is irrelevant and the quality and entertainment value of the production is what matters.

There are alot of good videos linked through the forums you just need to know where to look. I'm sure some groups would be more than happy to link you to a few videos.

Yeah the whiskey videos existed before big brother, and was kinda the father of it.

a pretty nice snowboarding vid (theres two of them) and a documentary about it, its in the make.

Jackass airing started and inspired a lot of the stunt groups, wrestling initialized much of the amateur and Backyard wrestling craze. As for pre-existing Home grown groups there was This is Bill, they started filming long before jackass yet were not very amazing, publicity and quality of any videos made a while ago would be redundant and found unoriginal in this day and age. For the anti is always being upped it's virtually an winnable game unless suicide or near death experiences are found pleasurable.

As for the whiskey vids, Just check around at some local skate shops, you're sure to find a copy or two... For old school stunty shit, early skate vids are where it's at, a lot of the scene was born from that "fuck shit up"mentality.
