Not sure if theres a thread for this, but hey we can re-vamp a new one.
BFD has been using simple Sony consumer cameras our entire lives. Im sick of having like 4 Sony's and simple quality so I am buying a new one. Ive been looking at a Canon Gl2 or a High Def cam.
Anyone wanna help me out if you have a 3ccd camcorder or a High Def Cam?
Also name the cameras you use.

VX2000 - its great, no complaints except for it breaking, but I bought it used for mad cheap, so its all good.

sony vx 2100e is my personal camera of choice
my secondary camera is the sony sr32e (HDD) pretty much let the parents have that one
and my back-up is a samsung vp-d362 (mostly used if I go to a gig, or if I just wanna film something while out and about)

id advise against buying a gl2, iv handled one and really its out dated compared to the new high defs. (as far as picture quality goes)
I use the Sony Hdr-hc3, its great bought it off ebay for $600 new. puts out really good picture and is easy to use as-well as small. If I was to go back though id spend the little extra money and get the HC7 cuz of it having a mic jack and a few other good things the hc3 does not have. overall amazing camera for the price though.

I know the GL2 is outdated. Ive handled them a few times and have a liking.
The VX2100 is a great cam and thats deffinatley a choice.
My one problem is making a clear decision of High Def or 3ccd. Its hard.

I'd advise against getting an hdv camera unless you can/know who to render it good to look all sexy, and do not get a gl2 to many downsides to it!!!!!!!!! and if you do get hd, get a sony!!! as for 3ccd get either a dvx100 or vx2100 only 3ccd cams worth anything, from my point of view.
Well we got all Sony cams, I'll give you model names, dcr trv260, dcr hc26, dcr sr100(I think, anyways an hdd cam) hdr hc3 and hdr hc1.

I'll be buying a Panasonic hvx200a sometime soon and a century optics fisheye (DS-FEWA-SB) for the pd170 within the next week. I just need a few more people to fucking pay me!!!

Two 3CCD cams - Sony VX2100 and Panasonic GS300.

M.I.A. has 2 HD cams.
I have a Sony HDR-HC9 (MiniDV tapes)
Keith has a Sony HDR-SR12 (Hard Drive)
Both are great and do their jobs well.

VX2000 - its great, no complaints
2100 is even more ace
gl2 stay away, unless you want to get it fixed every other month. domm can vouch on that one.
HD is the new thing so go with something HD. buy me a hvx200
30 June 2008, 00:42 UTC#14
Yeah, I've handled a VX2000 (Rico's, BONER etc.) and prefer my 2100. The 2000 is so much heavier and just blocky feeling.

hey drew, fuck you

30 June 2008, 05:16 UTC#17
hahaha.
I think im gonna go after a VX2100
anyone else use other cams?
30 June 2008, 05:52 UTC#18
I think you should go towards a HD cam honestly, but it's your decision. The VX2100 is amazing, just out dated anymore.
