Ok so I really am in a bit of a pickle here...I have been asked to edit a interview of a person and he has filmed and uploaded the footage onto his pc using Windows Move Maker I have then put the footage onto my external hardrive and taken it home to edit.
Now he has shot two different camera angles of this, one slightly to the right and the main shot focusing on his face...
and unfortunately the main shot is the one that does not work.
When I try import it using File >import Adobe premiere will crash and ill have to close it.
When I try open it with Movie maker I get the error message "(file name).wmv is not indexed and cannot be imported"
When I try drag and drop import it into Premiere I get the error message "Unsupported format or damaged file."
Windows media player and DivX will play the file but only in real time...and wont let me skip forward.
But VLC player does...but once I get to a certain point it does this:

Now apart from the obvious answer of "its fcukd lawl." what is the problem?! and how can I solve it...
if it really is damaged and its a case of re-uploading the footage which is 45 mins long and 680MB how can the guy who uploaded it prevent this from happening?! (he uses movie maker remember) what did he do wrong for it to do this?
If anyone can help me sort this out it would be extremely grateful.
