How To Upload 16:9 To Youtube.

Anyone know? When I do it just throws it into 4:3 for some reason.

I dont know why it would change it if u exported it in 16:9 though

If your editing 16:9 HDV footy on final cut, and your trying to export it as a L.A.N file then it will come out 4:3. SO you have to export it as quicktime and re-import it into a 4;3 DV timeline and press no when it asks if you want to change settings, then export it as a lan file and it will be 16:9.

I think you and me are the only ones who use final cut.

Not really. Ive been an assistant editor for someone using avid, so I know basic controls/layout, but cant get my hands on a cracked mac copy to actual get my teeth into it.

I've only had a chance to try it once, it's hard to get a copy because of that damn dongle. From what I've read, final cut and avid both have advantages. Would you choose avid over final cut?

I just want to be able to use both. As quite afew of the big post production houses use final cut, so it's easier to find editing jobs etc.

But I'm so familiar with final cut, it's hard to imagine not using it.

Okay I think I found out what was wrong, I exported it to 1.442 or whatever for UK 16:9 settings but because of that, Youtube does something and converts it back to 4:3. So using square pixels it creates some fake bars which works.


Software wise I use Premiere, Final Cut and Avid.

Premiere I use at home for anything, I just like the polished feel I get with it, I've used it for about 4/5 years now so I know it quite well.

Final Cut I use at uni, I don't find it much different to premiere, but there are small things that I don't know about it which can get annoying when I know how to do it in premiere.

Avid I use quite a lot for broadcast and high quality stuff (I work for a TV production company and for an online high grade video production company). It's a really amazing program because it renders on the fly and the colour grading is perfect. I haven't been using Avid for long but it's very efficient and when you pick up on how to use it properly you can get so much editing done in a short time.
