Would This Be Illegal?

I recently came up with this idea, it involves one of my friends with squibs or something similar on him and a huge speaker. He will walk through a busy park, take out a megaphone and get everyones attention, at that moment we play a loud gunshot sound through the speaker and detonate the squib, making it look like he got sniped. In how many ways is this wrong/illegal?

I don't think it would be illegal at all if you were in the woods, mountains, etc. As long as you had a permit for the gun.

There isn't going to be a gun involved at all. Maybe a blank firing gun fired into the air from a boat into the water (the park is on the water's edge). That way, no one would know where the sound came from. But I was thinking about using speakers.

But I say that don't use a real gun no matter what, even if it's just for shooting in the air to generate the sound as you planned. Come up with a better idea to make the sound. I can imagine that the link to the use of a real gun in your prank could make the whole thing go 10x more severe if it ended up in court. But that's just my common sense talking..
